Tree Stump Grinding is the process of removing the tree stump with a mechanical device known as a Stump Grinder. It does exactly what its name implies; it grinds the stump into small wood chips.
A tree stump is like an ice berg, what you see above ground is only the beginning. Most stumps are double the size beneath the ground surface.
We grind the stump as low as possible to prevent sinkage of the ground as what is left of the stump begins to decay. We try to grind all stumps approx. 10" to 12" below ground level as the landscape allows.
IMPORTANT:
Most tree services leave the wood chips in the hole and build a large mound above the stump. They tell you that grass will grow up and that you won't be able to tell that there was a tree there by next year. Well, that is simply not true. For the grass to grow over the old stump hole, you must remove the majority, if not all, of the wood chips and fill the hole with dirt....or potting soil. Then, the grass will grow over it as needed.
